The Body of Christ: The Merger Place

THE BODY OF CHRIST: THE MERGER PLACE
We, the Church, the Body of Christ HAS to become a merger place. Not a merger place for engrafting people into our own personal agendas but into GOD-given Spirit movements. The Body is made up of several parts, many, if were off by themselves could not survive. 1 Cor. 12:21-22 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:…and vs. 24 says, but God hath tempered the body together,. One of the definitions of the word temper is: “improve the hardness and elasticity of (steel or other metal) by reheating and then cooling it.” or in other words “iron sharpening iron. When the LORD sends other cultures or parts of the Body into an existing Body of Christ it is for growth AND strengthening of the existing Body of Christ.
So, we the Church need to look at what GOD has said about the Body, especially the local Bodies of Christ, and learn how to “temper in” new parts of the Body into an already exsisting Body of believers. It will not only strengthen the local Bodies of Christ, but will cause them to grow. Paul, a Jewish apostle, went out to what was then called the Gentiles and Gentiles were everyone in the world who were not of the nation of Israel. Look around you who is in the world that is not like you. Not who does not like you, but who is not like me. That is the person that I want to become a member of the Body of Christ! That is the person I want to become a part of our local Ministry, because they will strengthen it and when the local Bodies of Christ are strenghtened and growing, then the worldwide Body of Christ is strengthened and growing.
Acts 6:1, says, And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. So, when GOD adds to the Church as many as should be saved, there will be so adjustments to be made by all members of the Body. There must be a grafting in. After new organs are added to a body such as hearts, kidneys a solution is usually added to assist in the process. Also, TIME is needed for the new parts to be totally engrafted into the old Body.
This is what’s needed when new cultures are added to an exsisting culture within a Church. A solution which is the HOLY GHOST to aid with the grafting process and time which is what is needed for growth of the Body of Christ.
There is a street in Detroit which is called Church street. Years ago when I walked from Troy to downtown Detroit, part of the walk took me down John R. thru Hazel Park into Detroit and about a half mile south of Six Mile Rd. That street was Church St. At the east end of Church St. was a large church and I walked westward to Woodward and there was another large Church. What I believe the LORD was showing me was that the Church HAS to lead the in bridging the gap or the great divide that exsist not only in the communities but in the churches, WITHOUT the world telling us how to do it.
We have the cultures, the Holy Spirit, time and the solution: JESUS. If we only lay aside every wieght and the sin that so easily besets us the work can be done and GOD will be glorified!
Until HE returns.
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Howard Leslie
